Diverse Tools for Diverse Readers
Date: Tuesday October 29
Time: 8:00PM Eastern/ 5:00 Pacific Time
Led by Michele Haiken, EdD
In a preview of her FETC presentation, Michele Haiken will discuss how to enhance your digital literacy toolbox to support the diverse readers in your classroom. Our classrooms include not just one type of student and learner, but are diverse and teachers are called upon to differentiate their teaching to maximize learning potential. Today teachers are called upon not to teach reading, but to teach readers. There is no one way of teaching that fits all students. Teachers use a variety of strategies to find the ones that work best for each of our students to maximize student learning and potential. Learn digital platforms and apps to support the diverse learners in your classroom and create meaningful classroom experiences that promote reading, critical thinking, and digital literacy.
We will discuss:
- What are the needs of diverse learners?
- What different accommodations exist for different learners?
- What tools can inspire learners and readers?
